Jewish Civil Rights Tour – March 31 – April 2, 2024 - Join Rabbi Kohn and professional Jewish Civil Rights Tour Educators to Georgia and Alabama. Trip includes two night’s accommodations, six meals, transportation, admission & programming costs. Deposit of $400 is due by December 15. Lotus Lantern Class – 6:00pm on Thursday, March 7. The Korean Spirit & Culture Promotion Project will teach participants how to make a beautiful lotus flower lantern using colored paper and a pre-made wire frame while learning about Korea’s unique history and culture. $25 per person includes materials and snacks. Meet violinist Dan Avshalomov & Matthias Buccholz as they perform quartets of Beethoven, Shostakovich and Brahms. Tickets are $35 for Adults, $30 for Seniors & $10 for Students with a college ID. Sisterhood Rosh Chodesh – 6:30 PM on Thursday, December 21 at the home of Joan Berkley. The topic will be “Do You Believe in Miracles?”
New Reform Torah Commentary Class – 6:30 PM – 7:45 PM on Thursday, December 21 and January 11. Class taught by Rabbi Kohn. TBJ has been invited to participate in a unique, national piloting project. We will read, critique and analyze the new language; then complete a survey on our experience with the new translation. We will look at sections from Genesis, Exodus & Leviticus.

Tikkun Olam – Christmas Day Dinner- For the 3rd year in a row, TBJ is partnering with King of Kings Lutheran Church to feed a festive holiday dinner to the less fortunate in Newburgh and surrounding areas. Our goal is to prepare 200 meals.Volunteers are needed to distribute food on Monday, December 25 first shift – 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM and second shift 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Please contact Stacey Yerger at [email protected] if you can volunteer for any of the shifts or if you can prepare any food.
The Power of Chai – TBJ year-end pop up appeal campaign. Help TBJ to continue offering diverse programming and spiritual events. Simply donate in multiples of Chai! Kantika (“song” in Latino) follows the joys and losses of Rebecca Cohen, feisty daughter of the Sephardic elite of early 20th-century Istanbul. When the Cohens lose their wealth and are forced start anew, Rebecca fashions a life from what comes her way―a failed marriage, the need to earn a living, passion, pleasure and motherhood. Moving from Spain to Cuba to New York for an arranged second marriage, she faces her greatest challenge―her disabled stepdaughter whose challenges pit new family against old.
