Giant Hanukkah Menorah Lighting – Join us each night as we light another candle on the lawn menorah. A different group of people will be honored each night at 6:00pm, except for Friday, December 8 in which the candle will be lit at 4:00pm. Donuts & hot chocolate will be available every night
CAI Movie Club – 7:00pm on Tuesday, December 12 - Discussion via Zoom of the movie “To Be Or Not To Be” starring Carole Lombard & Jack Benny. A troupe of actors in Nazi-occupied Warsaw who use their abilities at disguise and acting to fool the occupying troops. News breaks out that Germany has invaded Poland and the actors hide as Warsaw is bombed. Using their skill for impersonation, Joseph and company must confuse the Nazis and stop Siletsky from handing over the list of actors. Jewish Civil Rights Tour – March 31 – April 2, 2024 - Join Rabbi Kohn and professional Jewish Civil Rights Tour Educators to Georgia and Alabama. Trip includes two night’s accommodations, six meals, transportation, admission & programming costs. Deposit of $400 is due by December 15. New Reform Torah Commentary Class – 6:30 – 7:45pm on Thursday, December 21 and January 11. Class taught by Rabbi Kohn. TBJ has been invited to participate in a unique, national piloting project. We will read, critique and analyze the new language; then complete a survey on our experience with the new translation. We will look at sections from Genesis, Exodus & Leviticus.

Tikkun Olam – Christmas Day Dinner- For the 3rd year in a row, TBJ is partnering with King of Kings Lutheran Church to feed a festive holiday dinner to the less fortunate in Newburgh and surrounding areas. Our goal is to prepare 200 meals.Volunteers are needed to distribute food on Monday, December 25 first shift – 10am – 2pm and second shift 2pm – 6pm. Please contact Stacey Yerger at [email protected] if you can volunteer for any of the shifts or if you can prepare any food.

Kantika (“song” in Latino) follows the joys and losses of Rebecca Cohen, feisty daughter of the Sephardic elite of early 20th-century Istanbul. When the Cohens lose their wealth and are forced start anew, Rebecca fashions a life from what comes her way―a failed marriage, the need to earn a living, passion, pleasure and motherhood. Moving from Spain to Cuba to New York for an arranged second marriage, she faces her greatest challenge―her disabled stepdaughter whose challenges pit new family against old.
