Giant Hanukkah Menorah Lighting – Starting Thursday, December 7 at 6:00pm. Join us each night as we light another candle on the lawn menorah. A different group of people will be honored each night at 6:00pm, except for Friday, December 8 in which the candle will be lit at 4:00pm. Donuts & hot chocolate will be available every night. Experience Jewish immigrant life at the turn of the last century followed by lunch at Russ & Daughters. At 2:30pm visit the historic Eldridge Street Synagogue. $25 per person. Register by December 4. Trip includes two night’s accommodations, six meals, transportation, admission & programming costs. Deposit of $400 is due by November 15. Tikkun Olam – Christmas Day Dinner- For the 3rd year in a row, TBJ is partnering with King of Kings Lutheran Church to feed a festive holiday dinner to the less fortunate in Newburgh and surrounding areas. Our goal is to prepare 200 meals. Volunteers are needed to help cook on Saturday, December 2 at 9am at King of Kings. Volunteers are needed to distribute food on Monday, December 25 first shift – 10am – 2pm and second shift 2pm – 6pm. Please contact Stacey Yerger at [email protected] if you can volunteer for any of the shifts or if you can prepare any food.
Winter Clothing Drive – Donations are being accepted for hats, gloves, scarves, and coats for men, women and children to be distributed among local community organizations.
Gift of Life Bone Marrow Swabbing Drive – Stem cell donors needed for the Gift of Life Marrow Registry. So far we have gotten 56 matches! Donors swab the inside of their cheeks and complete a registration form, must be 18 to 35 years old and in good health. Volunteers are also needed for a couple of hours to help find someone’s match. Contact Sherrill Murray-Lazarus to volunteer at [email protected]. The upcoming swabbing dates are below:

Volunteer with JFS and The Friendly Visitor Program - Join JFS for one of four in-person training sessions: November 9th at 10:00 am in the Tuxedo Park Library, November 15th at 10:00 am in Middletown, and November 30th at 10:00 in the Newburgh Library. The 90-minute training will prepare you to volunteer with older adults in your own community with the Friendly Visitor Program.
