Holocaust Remembrance Day - 1:00 - 3:00pm on Sunday, January 28 at Kol Yisrael, 290 North Street in Newburgh. The Museum of Jewish History will present A Community Reading of Elie Wiesel's NIGHT. The memoir will be read in its entirety throughout the day by well-known figures, accompanied by music and speeches in the main sanctuary.

Kantika (“song” in Latino) follows the joys and losses of Rebecca Cohen, feisty daughter of the Sephardic elite of early 20th-century Istanbul. When the Cohens lose their wealth and are forced start anew, Rebecca fashions a life from what comes her way―a failed marriage, the need to earn a living, passion, pleasure and motherhood. Moving from Spain to Cuba to New York for an arranged second marriage, she faces her greatest challenge―her disabled stepdaughter whose challenges pit new family against old.

Volunteer Trainings – The Jewish Family Service of Orange County is having some upcoming volunteer training programs to assist the elderly with transportation, wellness calls, grocery shopping and friendly visits. Training dates are: Thursday, January 18 at 10am at the Monroe Public Library and Tuesday, January 23 at 11:30am at the Cornwall Public Library.
