CAI Programs & Classes

CAI Simchat Kiddush – 11:45am on Saturday, August 16. Honoring birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions for the month of August. Sponsor your special occasion with a donation of $36. Topics in Judaism – 12:30pm every Saturday after Kiddush.

Lulav & Etrog - Orders can be placed now for your Lulav & Etrog set for Sukkot. Sets include myrtle branches & willows. The cost of each set is $40. Please submit your payment and order form no later than Wednesday, September 17.

Bark Mitzvah – 11:30am on Sunday, October 19, in the parking lot under the tent.  Bring your pets to receive a special blessing from Cantor Carl Sayres as we recite quotes of Noah and the ark.

Kol Yisrael Programs & Classes

Guided Meditation & Sound Bath Class – 7:00pm on Mondays with Bryon Abrams. Join us for a relaxation meditation with focusing on reducing stress using Tibetan singing bowls.  No fee to attend, but donations are welcome.

Tai Chi – Tuesdays & Thursdays at 2:30pm and Wednesdays at 11am. Join certified instructor Bryon Abrams as he teaches us mind-body practices and meditation to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, decrease anxiety, depression & fatigue. Donations appreciated. Walk-ins welcome!​​

Newburgh JCC Programs & Classes

Outdoor Shabbat – 5:30pm on Friday, August 22.  Join the JCC for a Kosher Outdoor Dinner with friends, food and live music followed by a Joint Shabbat service with Temple Beth Jacob and Congregation Agudas Israel. $18 per adult/$10 per child or $50 per family of 4. RSVP by August 15 to (845) 562-5604.

Line Dancing For Intermediate/Advanced- No line dancing until after Labor Day. 12:30 – 2:00pm on Wednesdays. No Fee for JCC Members. $6 for all non-members.
 
Rae of Light Chair Yoga for Adults—10:00 am on Fridays with Susan. $5 per class for members.

TBJ Programs & Classes

​TBJ Rosh Chodesh – 6:00pm on Thursday, August 14, at the temple in the oneg area hosted by Estelle Brown.

Sisterhood Dinner – 6:00pm on Thursday, August 21, at Orange Hill Restaurant, 82 Route 17K, Newburgh. The cost for the dinner is $47.  Sisterhood annual dues of $18 are due at the dinner.

Sisterhood Book Club – 1:00pm on Thursday, September 25 at the temple. The book will be “The Plot Against America by Philip Roth. An alternative history in which Franklin D. Roosevelt is defeated in the presidential election of 1940 by Charles Lindbergh. The novel follows the fortunes of the Roth family during the Lindbergh presidency, as antisemitism becomes more acceptable in American life and Jewish-American families like the Roths are persecuted on various levels. The narrator and central character in the novel is the young Philip, and the novel follows his coming of age, as well as American politics.

Gift of Life Bone Marrow Swabbing Drive – Stem cell donors needed for the Gift of Life Marrow Registry. So far, we have 148 Matches! Donors swab the inside of their cheeks and complete a registration form and must be in good health. Volunteers are also needed for a couple of hours to help find someone’s match. Contact Sherrill Murray-Lazarus to volunteer at [email protected] or text at 914-213-0986. The upcoming swabbing dates are below:
Sunday, August 17 from 10am – 2pm at the Federation Fun Day, Thomas Bull Park, Route 416, Montgomery, NY.
Tuesday, September 9 from 10am – 2pm at SUNY Orange Middletown Campus in the Rowley Center, 1st floor lobby, 115 South Street.
Tuesday, September 16, from 10am – 2pm at SUNY Orange Newburgh, Kaplan Hall, Grand Street lobby, One Washington Center.
