CAI Programs & Classes

Alex Solomon Parents/Grandparents Bereavement Support Group – 10:30am on Sunday, January 4 and February 8 at Kol Yisrael in the children's library. If you have lost a child or grandchild, no matter what age or when, come to find and share support. Sponsored by CAI. Generally, on the second Sunday of the month. For more information, contact [email protected].

Hebrew Reading classes – Every Monday, taught by Cantor Carl Sayres. If you need to join virtually, you may click on this Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87509809298?pwd=9HC65Rb5XjmdmfIzg7sHMoy9Ex2avq.1.

10am - Level 1 - We'll teach everything, starting with the Aleph Bet. No experience reading Hebrew is assumed. And we'll tie everything we're learning in with the siddur. Our goal is to make reading and singing the siddur comfortable and friendly.
11am - Level 2 - So you learned to read Hebrew once upon a time, and you need a refresher. We'll review everything and work on reading and singing from the Siddur.
1pm - Level 3 - You're comfortable reading Hebrew, but there's always more to learn! Let's practice what you know and build your skills.

New Member Welcome Event - 10am on Monday, January 19. Coffee & Bagels, then at 8:00pm evening snacks & chat.

JEWS &  BREWS – 5:00 – 7:30pm on Thursday, January 15, February 5, & March 5 at Billy Joe’s Ribworks, Newburgh Waterfront, 26 Front Street, Newburgh, NY. Meet friends old and new, ask Cantor Carl anything, and enjoy your first happy hour beer, wine, or cocktail on us! These evenings are family-friendly and free to attend. No RSVP required.

New Megillah -This Purim, everyone can help create a brand-new Megillah and be part of a joyful, once-in-a-generation celebration.  Soferet Linda Coppleson is writing a new Megilat Esther for us. This very special Megillah will have vowels and trope, making it much easier to read - no memorization!

We want to give everyone the opportunity to learn and read a verse on Purim. We'll have classes, meet individually, provide recordings or transliteration. Sponsor a verse in the new Megillah in honor or memory of someone you love:
